                Hanoi - Vietnam. 25 to 28 August 2009

 

The Seminar on Rural Development was held in Hanoi from 25 to August 28, 2009. Organized by the Centre for Research and Development of farming systems in Vietnam (CASRAD), an agency of the Vietnamese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), and the Vietnamese Association for Rural Development (PHANO), in collaboration with the Foundation Charles Léopold Mayer for the Human Progress (FPH).

 

Attended by many Vietnamese scholars and specialists from Europe (France, Spain), Latin America (Chile), Africa (Benin) and Asia (China). Debates, theoretical reflections, but also visits to farming areas near Hanoi, which allowed participants to interact with farmers, exploring their lives, their difficulties and needs. The seminar provided an opportunity for foreign experts to understand the significant progress in agriculture and rural areas of Vietnam, and the contradictions they face, contradictions that can jeopardize their future. For his part, Vietnamese researchers and scientists present were informed of the views of their foreign colleagues, both on-site visits, presentations at the seminar. Apart from the meeting of experts in rural development, presented the proposed creation of an Sustainable Earth International University.
